Medical Affairs Associate

General role description

Medical Affairs Associates play a key role in ensuring the scientific integrity of communications and materials shared by pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies.

They help ensure that information about products, research, and clinical data is accurate, balanced, and compliant with relevant codes and regulations. 

This role is well suited to individuals who enjoy interpreting complex scientific information and communicating it clearly to support the safe and effective use of health technologies.

Key responsibilities

  • Help review and approve promotional and educational materials related to company products, such as medicines and treatments, to ensure scientific accuracy and compliance
  • Respond to medical information enquiries from healthcare professionals and internal teams, such as marketing, regulatory, and sales
  • Help develop scientific content for use in materials such as training slide decks, clinical briefs, FAQs, and conference presentations aimed at healthcare professionals and internal staff.
  • Assist with literature reviews and summarise research findings into clear, concise reports that support the safe and effective use of existing or upcoming products.
  • Keep accurate records of medical activities, including review decisions, document approvals, and email correspondence, using internal tracking systems.
  • Work closely with teams across the company, including regulatory, marketing, clinical development, and safety teams, to align on messaging and ensure consistent, evidence-based communication.
  • Regularly read clinical guidelines, scientific publications, and competitor updates to stay informed about new developments in relevant disease areas.

Required qualifications

  • A degree in pharmacy, medicine, biomedical science, life sciences or a related health discipline
  • Postgraduate qualifications (e.g. MSc, PhD, MPH) may be advantageous in some roles.
