In Australia, important decisions are being made which medicines are approved and available on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, improving both access and affordability for patients.
Join American economist and Columbia University Professor Frank Lichtenberg who will present key findings from his report: The Effect of New Medicines Provided by the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) on Mortality and Hospital Utilisation in Australia, 2002 – 2019.
Professor Lichtenberg will also discuss the health and economic benefits of adding more medicines to the PBS for patients and hospitals, and participate in a panel Q&A facilitated by Paul Cross, Founder and Managing Director of Daily Dispatch to explore the impact of those findings. They will be joined by Anne-Maree Englund, Head of Strategic Policy Implementation, Medicines Australia and Deidre Mackechnie, Executive Officer, Australian Patient Advocacy Alliance, who will also discuss the national Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Policy and Methods Review to improve access to new health technologies.
