General role description

Clinical Research Nurses are registered nurses who support people taking part in clinical trials and research studies. They combine clinical care with research tasks - making sure participants are safe and comfortable while also helping collect data and follow the study plan.

These roles involve working closely with principal- and sub-investigators, clinical research coordinators, and partner organisations to make sure studies run smoothly, safely, and ethically.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care and support to trial participants
  • Carry out study-related procedures, such as taking blood samples or monitoring vital signs
  • Coordinate participant visits and help schedule appointments
  • Keep accurate records of visits, procedures, and study outcomes
  • Check that study tasks are done according to the protocol and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines
  • Communicate regularly with investigators, research teams, and partner organisations

Required qualifications
